Dyslexia and dyscalculia are genetically-based learning difficulties. In contrast, reading and spelling difficulties (LRS) and mathematical difficulties can be acquired through various influences such as prolonged school absences, emotional stress, inappropriate learning methods, and lack of support. In the German-speaking region, a clear distinction between these terms is often not made.

Dyslexia and dyscalculia have genetic causes and manifest as persistent challenges in reading, writing, or mathematics despite adequate intelligence and appropriate learning opportunities. Targeted development of sensory perceptions is necessary for addressing dyslexia and dyscalculia.
My eight-volume book series in German provides a comprehensive approach to specifically support children in training their sensory perceptions in the context of dyslexia and dyscalculia.
